Barney's has gone green!

Wow! Sorry it has been awhile. I hope you're not still waiting for my holiday decor post...I promise to put something up before the 25th. Instead, today I thought I'd take the time to tell you about one of my favorite things. Like Oprah, I too have some new things that have come into my life and I feel the need to share them with you. However, just to warn you, there's no free swag with my version and it's really just one thing. As you may or may not know, I love designer clothing. It's really the art aspect and desire to have my own label one day that seals that deal. Not to mention, the amazing retail stores, fabulous shopping bags, extra unhelpful sales people and the hot security guards in Gucci suits that really justify spending an outrageous amount of cash for something I probably didn't need in the first place. I just love it! Well, here in Central Texas, Target is about as upscale as it gets. So I have turned to the world wide web, aka my highway to the real world, to help me out this holiday season. ***HERE COMES THE REVEAL***
Ladies and Gentledudes, I give you my favorite thing: Barney's New York has gone Green for the Holidays!
MAKE ME GREEN and take me to BARNEY'S!
On their site they have these fabulous little webisodes about fashion and going green. They're fantastic and so much fun. Plus, anything about going green just makes me feel good. I can't wait 'til Wal*Mart goes green. (Insert sinister laugh here!) So, check it out and let me know what you think. Tomorrow, I'll have another fantastic, high fashion holiday have to, just for you.
Merryly Yours, Randy.

White Diamonds are Forever!

Good Morning. What a great week it has been. I am working on a billboard design this morning and watching the Today Show. I have my coffee in hand and I am feeling good about completing two different versions for my client to see. Any how, like I said, I have the television on the Today Show and during the last commercial break they aired a commercial for White Diamonds. Lordy, Lordy! If this fragrance really pulls that much in revenue during each holiday season, is it possible that they could shoot a new campaign? I mean, I feel like I'm watching an extremely bad, music video, frosted clip from "Indiana Jones." Plus, Elizabeth Taylor is 20 years older now and really doesn't look like that. This poses the question, is it false advertisement or has it become just an unintentional holiday classic that we should enjoy like Grinch or Charlie Brown? At any rate, it struck my attention enough to blog about it. I do remember purchasing it in the early '90's for my mom one Christmas. Never again!! Okay, back to work. Have a wonderful Friday!

Client Gives Me an iPod Challenge!

Yesterday was the first day back after a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday, so it was a little rough! However, I have this fantastic client that I can just talk on the phone with for hours. A little business, a little marketing chat and some creative banter. Well, yesterday she gave me a ring. I answered the phone with my standard greeting, "Thanks for calling Randy McCauley Designs. This is Randy." The response I received was "Grab your iPod." Without hesitation, I grabbed it and waited patiently for her next set of instructions. I was told to turn it on and go to the Main Menu, select Shuffle Songs and grab a pen and pad. I was in "Go" position and she told me she was going to give me a little assignment. I was to hit play and write down the first 10 songs that played and then Blog about them! So here I am, bloggin' and dancin' away. Ready for the results?

Title, Artist and Album

Here's My Defense!

1. I am a sucker for a black lady belting it out over an ultra house, gay anthem. This song really gets me going when I am running.
2. Classic Dance-off Material! Plus, who doesn't have this song on their iPod?
3. I wanted to be in this video so bad! Madonna looked amazing, even when she was down on all fours crawling towards a bowl of milk. This song is sheer Blonde Ambition.
4. Haven't listened to this album all that much, but I do love this song. Kelly is my favorite American Idol.
5. Another Dance-off Jam. Plus I just love using Jamiroquai in a sentence.
6. So, if you haven't seen Wicked yet, stop reading my blog and start searching for tickets. You'll never watch the Wizard of Oz the same. What a "wonderful" song.
7. Okay, this one I must say is not one of my favs, but still good background music. And man, what a title! I think it could be one of the longest titles in my iTunes library. Could you imagine trying to tell someone the title while on the dance floor at a club? "Man this is a great song. What's it called?" "Oh, this is Boogie 2 Nite the Seamus Haji Big Love Club Mix! I just love it. Don't you?"
8. OMG, High School Musical. How did that get on my iPod?
9. Yet another musical. I promise I don't fit any stereotypes!
10. The perfect song to end this with. I will forever think of their performance at 106 and Park when Michelle hit the stage during the performance! It's a must see and a sure laugh. Check it out!!

Thank you to one of my favorite clients for this wonderful game. I had fun, hope you enjoyed it! Talk to you soon. Randy

All That Glitters This Holiday!

Today I began decking the halls. This is my favorite time of year and I go wild with decor. With my mother being an interior designer, I can always remember our home being dressed to the nines. Every year a new theme, even to this day! I am looking forward to seeing what she has done this year with Purple and Gold. This year my focus is on the sparkle and glamour of a simple Holiday. Black, White, Tan, Silver, Gold and Red, these are the colors I am using. In an effort to be a little more green this season, I am using newspaper to wrap all of my gifts. Dressing them up with so cool ribbon I've collected over the years. Man I'm excited. As I mentioned before, I want to have a Holiday Celebration. I am going really try hard to make that happen. The photo above is from last year. Our home was featured in the Killeen Daily Herald for the decor. Our theme was The Nutcracker in Progress. I hope you enjoy! I'll get some photos from this year up soon.
Happy Decorating,
Randy

Welcome to Randy's Blogland!

So, I am starting a blog for work. I know, It seems lame, but I think it'll be a cool way to express the way in which my creative process works. Plus, since I work alone, it'll give me a little human interaction!! So, sit back, relax and come back often to see what I've been up to.

Tonight, I've been fine tuning my website and preparing it for launch. I can't wait to just maintain it. Getting started on anything is always the hardest part. But once you're on a roll, things just seem to come together nicely. I've been doubling up on my daily doses of Hairspray and Holiday Flicks will I've been working. It has made a world of difference. Anytime I need a little break, I just break into song.

Okay, well I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am really enjoying the Holiday season this year. I am planning on having a small "Winter Wonderland" Party mid-December. We'll see how that goes.

Once again, welcome to my blog. Talk to you soon.
Randy
